Optus Gets First Dibs On New BlackBerry Models In Australia

Research In Motion only announced the Torch 9860 and Bold 9900 models yesterday, but Optus is already lining up for Australian release. The two new models will go on sale through Optus from September 1.

There’s no pricing details as yet, but you can pre-register on the Optus site for updates and the phones, running the updated BlackBerry 7 OS, will be on sale online from mid-August. I don’t imagine Optus will get a long-term exclusive on the handsets, so we’ll keep an eye on what happens with Telstra and Vodafone.
