Get To Know The New Google Docs Shortcuts

Along with Google Docs’ new look came a few new handy keyboard shortcuts. Here’s what they are and what they can do for you.

New Document Creation

Creating a new document is really easy now with a few Shift+ shortcuts. Shift+T will create a new text document, Shift+S will give you a new spreadsheet, and Shift+C will provide you with a new collection.

Easy Document Selection

The up and down arrows will now run through the document selection for you. Pressing enter (or return on a Mac) will open the selected document. Alternatively, you can press A to option the actions menu, then arrow up and down through that to choose a new selection (also by pressing enter/return).

These are the main new additions to Google Docs, but if you want to see all of your available shortcuts just click press Shift+/ for the full view. Alternatively, you can click the image at the top of this post for the whole bunch as well.

Note: To enable the new look and features, you just need to log in and look for the “Try the New Look” link. We’ve seen it show up both in the top left and top right corners, so it could be in either place!
