Build Your Own Grid-It Tech Organiser In A Vintage Book

Lifehacker readers tend to have a lot of tech accessories to keep organised. Grid-It organisers are versatile containers we’re really fond of, but this DIY version wraps that modern organising goodness into a vintage book for a really charming old-meets-new case.

Grid-It pouches aren’t expensive, sure, but you can’t get one in The Catcher in the Rye version yet. With just a sewing machine, your hardcover book to hack, elastic ribbon, and some other art/craft store materials, you can create your own customised Grid-It. Don’t worry, the sewing skills are super easy. Check out the full instructions from Design Sponge below.

  • I just went to buy a Grid-It from the Cocoon website after seeing this article. After selecting the 3-pack for $50 I was quoted around $90 for postage! Any ideas for buying it in Australia?

  • Try They operate from Vic using local US buying agents and post the item to you. I have used them a number of times and will use again.
