Build An Under-Cabinet Magnetic Key-Holder

If you’re tired of keeping your keys piled up on the countertop or hanging from a peg next to the door, this under-cabinet key holder, made entirely with spare IKEA parts, keeps keys out of sight, out of the way, and securely in one place until it’s time to grab them and walk out the door.Over at the blog IKEA Hackers, reader Jeremy Thacker wrote in to share his creative use of a Grundtal magnetic bar mounted to the underside of a cabinet lip next to his front door. The cabinet is on the way in and out of his house, so it made for a natural place to hang his keys. Instead of mounting pegs, he used a magnet as a way to keep the keys in place, hanging from their rings. All it took was some double-sided tape and the magnetic bar.

Your mileage may vary depending on how many keys you keep from your keychain, and if you want keyfobs for cars and doors close to a magnet. Jeremy noted in the comments there that he hasn’t had a problem with it. Still, for an easy, out of the way solution, this does the trick.
