View Your Recently Opened Apps By Long-Pressing Android’s Home Button

Being able to run multiple apps at once is great, but if you want to open up one app without leaving another, Android has a very easy shortcut to do just that.

On any screen in Android, just press and hold the home button, and it will give you a list of your last eight most recently launched programs. Not only does this give you quick access to your frequently used apps, but it lets you open them without returning to the home screen — great if you need a screenshot of the current window, or if you just want to check an email without returning to the home screen and swiping around.

Some ROMs, like CyanogenMod, even let you customise how many apps this menu shows in Android’s settings.
