Updated OneNote iOS App Actually Available For Australians

iOS: When Microsoft originally released an iOS app to work with its popular OneNote note-taking application for the desktop, it was not available in Australia and there didn’t seem to be any good reason why. Fortunately, the recently updated version 1.2 removes that restriction.

As well as dropping that hindrance, version 1.2 adds enhanced search capabilities, lets you pin frequently used notes and sync with notebooks started on SkyDrive. Definitely worth checking out if you’ve made OneNote part of your note-taking routine. Thanks to Shaun and Greg for pointing this out!

  • Annoyingly, it doesn’t show content in tables yet. So if you’ve got some tabular data in your notes you won’t be able to see it on your phone.

Also, you can’t access your desktop Unfiled Notes, but that seems to be a limitation of the desktop app – because you can’t ‘share’ your Unfiled Notes, it doesn’t sync them to the cloud like it will your other notebooks. A fairly large oversight by Microsoft – it means anything you quickly chuck in only resides on your desktop.

    • Shaun, Unfiled Notes syncs to the Onenote webapp in Skydrive just fine, and then down on to my Windows Phone 7 device too. So not sure if it’s just a limitation with the iPhone app or something not configured right with your desktop app – assuming you are using Onenote 2010 on a PC.
