Swype Beta Now Available For Jailbroken iPhones

While far from complete, a very early beta of Swype – the finger-swyping standard keyboard alternative popular on Android – is now available for your jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. It only works in some apps and doesn’t work perfectly, but if you’re eager to try it out on your iDevice, here’s how to do it.

The video above will show you the entire process, but basically you just have to do this:

  1. Jailbreak your iPhone
  2. Edit your sources in Cydia and add: http://wynd.x10.mx
  3. Search for Swype in Cydia and install it

That’s it! You won’t get a blue line showing your Swype path and it won’t work in most apps (it seems to work with just the stock iOS apps), but it’s a nice start.
