Make A DIY Kettlebell On The Cheap

Exercise equipment can be expensive. If you work out at home, chances are you have some weights and plates that can be repurposed into a DIY kettlebell.

Tim Ferriss, author of The 4 Hour Body shows you exactly what you need to do to build your own kettlebell, which is a weight that extends from a handle that you swing in order to build strength. To get started, you will need a few lengths of plumbing pipes from the hardware store. Once you have all the required parts, assemble them as instructed in the tutorial video.

I hope this guy has good liability insurance.
Am not convinced this is very safe.

Tim Ferriss is awesome. "The 4 Hour Body" is a must-read in my opinion. I have taken numerous tips from that book and incorporated them into my every day life. He also talks about this same DIY kettlebell setup in the book ... although I admit I haven't tried it!

That will work for two handed swings but hardly any other kettlebell exercise.

The 4 Hour Body is overrated (to be more accurate, overHYPED).

18 Kg Kettlebells can be had for $60 or less and last forever. I seem to remember a recent post about the false economy of buying cheap tools. Spending a bit more to get good tools is usually worthwhile both for a home toolkit or home gym.
