Build A Double-Decker IKEA Standing Desk

Standing desks are a nice alternative to sitting down all day but they can be expensive (even at IKEA). The IKEA-obsessed DIYers at IKEA Hackers detail how to build your own out of a couple of table tops and some supports.

For this project you will need:

Total Cost: $68 (note that while this is a good deal, it’s more than twice the US price for the same components — ouch!)

Anna, the IKEA Hackers contributor, combined these items by attaching the table legs to one of the tabletops and the brackets to the other. After that, she simply had to stack one on top of the other. Sounds simple enough. She notes that if she were being a little less frugal she would have sprung for a proper set of second legs for the top shelf instead of the brackets, but even without them, the desk is sturdy enough for regular use.
