Turn Old Tea Tins Into Space-Saving Planters

If you’d like a little green companion next to your desk while you work but don’t have room for a massive pot, try turning an old tea tin into a planter instead. They don’t take up much space, and if you start with a seedling or a small succulent, they’ll never grow large enough to repot them.

Tea tins aren’t too difficult to come by these days, but they are getting rarer. If you buy premium tea, or even know someone who does, they’re probably drowning in tea tins they don’t know what to do with. Before they land in the recycling bin, fill them with some soil, and pot a small succulent or a few of your favourite herbs inside.

You’ll probably have to punch some holes in the bottom and put a dish or a small saucer underneath to let water or extra moisture drain out, but that’s all. The end-result is a tiny, no-fuss mini-garden that saves space and earns you a small plant companion at your desk.
