This Paint Tray Drink Caddy Makes Sure You Never Spill A Drink Again

Nothing’s worse than going on a coffee run for coworkers or friends and then suffering through transporting four or five cups of hot liquid back in a vehicle with two cup-holders. With this simple hack, you can turn a paint tray and a few supplies into a cupholder for as many drinks as you like.

All you need is a simple plastic paint tray, two round plastic fittings large enough for a cup to slide into, and some epoxy putty. Instructables user Mrballeng used KwikPlastic, but we can see using Sugru for the same purpose. As long as your adhesive adheres well, cures quickly, and won’t come up as soon as you put a drink in the fitting, you’ll be fine. Just attach the fittings to the bottom of the tray, let the epoxy cure, and you’re all set.

The idea was originally posted at Instructables with the goal of giving kids in the backseat of a car a place to hold their drinks and their food in a car without rear cupholders. It works well, but you can modify the same hack to include more than two plastic fittings for drinks: the size of the tray would allow you to add two more for four drinks, or even four more for a total of six. That’ll make coffee runs much easier.
