Make A Camera Glide Strap For Quick And More Stable Shooting

The strap that comes with your camera isn’t all that useful, but you can make one that is. This handy project from DIY Photography will net you a strap that’ll make camera access easy and even help stabilise your shots a little bit.

It’s a pretty simple project to put together. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Two buckles.
  • A long strap that’ll fit around your upper body. It also needs to have a plastic end for feeding one end of the strap through it.
  • Extra strap(s) for connecting the buckle to the camera.
  • Four strong key rings.
  • Two little key chain connectors.
  • A sewing kit. (A crappy one from the drug store should do, but you may want a tougher needle.)

When you’ve got everything it’s just a matter of attaching all the straps in the right way. If you want to make one, hit up DIY Photography for the full instructions. If you’re feeling lazy, you can always buy a C-Loop — what this project was based upon. Alternatively, Gizmodo reviewed the Lumaloop and liked it (although found it a bit pricey).
