DIY Photography Softbox From A Styrofoam Cooler

We’ve featured lots of inexpensive DIY photography softboxes before, and here’s another cheap one to add to the DIY list of options. Convert a styrofoam food container into a softbox for more flattering lighting when taking pictures—all for under $20.

In this 9-minute video, Don Barnard shows us how to make a softbox from a shipping container (used to ship food), a sun reflector from a two dollar shop, and some common hardware store items. If you don’t want to bother with the electrical setup, you can just use an L-bracket to mount your camera’s flash strobe light into the DIY softbox. Either way, it’s another cheap solution for taking better closeup pictures.
