Virgin Australia Giving Free Lounge Access To Some Qantas Frequent Flyers

Competition by airlines for regular business flyers is fierce, so it makes sense that Virgin is offering free lounge access to Qantas platinum and gold flyers. The catch? It’s only for a couple of months in two cities.Australian Business Traveller reports that between May 26 and July 22, any gold or platinum Qantas flyer travelling with Virgin can use the Sydney or Melbourne lounge, regardless of which class they are flying in.

That’s not quite as generous a promotion as last year’s scheme which offered free Velocity gold membership to platinum and gold Qantas members — a scheme Virgin ditched when it proved too popular. However, if you are a lounge-accustomed flyer and have a trip out of Melbourne in that time frame, it might be tempting to give the opposition a try. I just hope Virgin has sorted its towel supply issues.
