Windows/Web: We’ve featured quite a few great language tools on the web, but if you’re looking for a downloadable program with word definitions, pronunciations, example sentences, thesaurus and system integration, free program TheSage is one of the best dictionaries around.
There’s nothing wrong with just using Google as your dictionary (it is, after all, pretty full-featured), but sometimes you just need something that integrates with your system. TheSage not only has all the features you’d come to expect from an advanced dictionary (advanced search features, audio pronunciation, example sentences, a thesaurus for each definition of a word, and so on), but it even lets you look up words from other programs in Windows. It’s even got a great tabbed interface so you can deal with multiple searches at a time. Honestly, this dictionary is so full-featured, it’s got features we didn’t even know we wanted until we tried it out. If you ever make use of language tools in yoru day-to-day work, this is a download you’ll want to check out. Hit the link to see more.
TheSage is a free download for Windows systems.
