Suburb View Plots Places To Buy Or Rent On A Map

When we reported Google’s withdrawal of its Maps-based real estate search, commenters pointed to Suburb View as a useful alternative. With options to search for places to buy or rent in any Australian location, it’s definitely a useful tool to have on hand when house-hunting.

The map-based search results include an average price for houses in the area (based on a four-year data archive), and you can filter out options you’re not interested in or sort by price. Clicking on an individual property shows additional details and connects you to the online listing.

Listings are drawn from individual estate agents, with more than 300 sources claimed. It’s not going to show everything on sale in an area, but it does seem to have a reasonable selection. There’s also handy links to surrounding suburbs, so you can explore further afield if prices in your preferred location seem a bit tight.
