Google Reader For Android Gets Unread Count And Feed Widgets

Android: Now you can monitor your important feeds and see news items from Google Reader without ever opening the app.

The latest update adds home screen widgets that can either show you the unread count for a feed, or show you items from a feed in a horizontal strip. Reader lovers may find something even better in the update, though: a button at the bottom of any feed scroll, “Mark previous as read,” that marks everything above your position. This is a feature that isn’t even offered in the web version, but just as helpful on mobile. [Google Reader Blog via Download Squad]
