Use Google Goggles To Find Desktop Wallpapers

If you've ever been on a site and seen a screenshot with a really cool wallpaper, you no longer have to go searching for it yourself—reader jovke1994 reminds us that Google Goggles can do the searching for you.

Google's popular search-by-sight mobile app Google Goggles can search the web using your Android or iOS device's camera, which is useful for famous landmarks, logos, and paintings, but due to the way it searches, it's also great for finding wallpapers. If you see a screenshot on a web site that uses a wallpaper you think is cool, just point your phone at the screenshot, fire up Goggles, and it should be able to find the original full-res wallpaper for you. It won't win you any productivity points, but it's a really fun and clever way to use Goggles that we hadn't though of yet. Thanks, jovke1994!

A much easier option would be to simply use a reverse image search, such as TinEye.

Great tip. I also love doing a google image search and using the advance search tools to specify an exact size or you can click on Use my desktop size - very handy for quickly browsing for new wallpapers at whatever res you need. And if you want to narrow the results you can specify colours you want or use key words such as vector, abstract, 3d etc. Or if you want to search a single site (say DeviantArt) then you can use the Site: syntax to limit results to just that site
