Poynt Rolls Out Android, Windows Phone 7 Apps In Australia

I've been using Poynt, a search application which combines Google Maps with local directory information to help find businesses and other locations, on my BlackBerry Torch for a while. Now the same app is being rolled out with Australian data for Android and Windows Phone 7 users.

While Google's own maps application offers good search capabilities, the integration of business listings can make Poynt more accurate, and allows you to call relevant businesses directly. The Android version includes voice search, while the Windows Phone 7 release has support for that platform's pivot function.

Poynt is a free download for Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7. Hit the link below for over-the-air download instructions on your supported device.

When I last tried this on my blackberry, it was either refusing to recognise the GPS location or refusing to return anything related to australia. Maybe it's time for another shot.

      Hi Steve,
Poynt launched in Australia in October - hope you've had better luck with your recent trial of Poynt thank your first try.

    Hi Steve:

I used it on a Torch back in October (when Poynt launched the Australian service) and it worked. Is it working for you now? If not, do a fresh download and install.
