Despite Apple's best efforts, Front Row just can't compete with awesome media centre alternatives like XBMC and Plex. Nonetheless, it still exists even if you install something better. Here's how to get rid of Front Row once and for all.
MacLife outlines a process to return Command+ESC back to our control, never launching Front Row again. This is actually a ridiculously simple process:
- In the Finder, go to the Go menu and choose Go to Folder... (or press Command + Shift + G)
- Enter /System/Library/CoreServices
- Locate Front Row
- Throw it in the trash (which will require entering your password for authorization).
Rather than throwing it out completely, you might want to zip it up and store it somewhere should you ever want to easily put it back. Either way, Front Row is gone and you'll have regained control over Command+ESC and your media centre preferences.
