Google Latitude Now Tracks Your iPhone's Every Move

Like many Google applications, Latitude took awhile to come to iOS. Now it's here, and you can use your GPS-enabled iOS device to report your location to whomever you wish.

What Does It Do?

Google Latitude tracks your location and shares it with other Google Latitude users. If another user shares their location with you, you can see where they are every time they report. The iPhone app reports your location in the background (unless you choose to disable this feature) so wherever you go, people can follow.

Who's It For?

Paranoid parents who want to track their child's every move (and also are willing to pay for an iPhone), over-sharers, or just the average person who wants to be able to help their friends find them when they're meeting up somewhere crowded.

The Bottom Line

Google Latitude is a very simple app that does one thing: track and share locations. If you've got a reason why you want to do this, download it right away — it's free. If not, sit back and relax knowing that nobody knows where you are. Well, for the most part.

Of course, like everything Google, it's in permanent beta. It certainly doesn't work on my iPhone 4 in Australia.
