Get A Programmable Remote For Easier DVD Operation

A footnote to our recent discussion about user friendly DVD players for older relatives: if you don't like the remote that comes with the DVD or think it will be difficult to use, it's pretty straightforward to swap it for a kid-friendly programmable remote control.

My brother (and fellow tech writer) Alex Kidman notes that there are plenty of models around to perform that task, including kiddie-centric designs and more general options. As he points out:

Sure, you probably wouldn't want Grandma to know you're giving her baby toys, but a bit of subtle repainting or stickering could solve that and make the thing easy to run.

Done your own DVD remote replacement? We'd love to hear about it in the comments. Thanks Alex!

This kid remote looks quite good for basic function of DVD.
