Chrome: We've shown you how to remove annoying Facebook clutter from web pages, but a new extension called WidgetBlock takes it a step further by removing widgets from most social networking sites, speeding up page loading times and de-cluttering the web.
While many sites allow you to hide the giant Facebook widgets if you'd rather not load them on every article, others wallpaper their pages with unremovable Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Google widgets that are not only an eyesore, but slow down page loading times. Chrome extension WidgetBlock lets block hide all those widgets before the page loads, similar to how AdBlock blocks advertisements:
It also has a nice settings page where you can customise which widgets get blocked. That way, if you love Twitter but can't stand Facebook, you can ditch the "Like" button but keep the "Tweet" button around for quick sharing.
WidgetBlock is a free download, Google Chrome only.
