The Dell Streak is a pretty nifty Android tablet/phone with one big negative: it only runs Android 1.6. The Android Australia blog details the process needed to upgrade the device to Froyo.
Essentially, the process doesn’t involve much more than pointing your device to a Dell update page and letting it do its thing. Several commenters have noted that it can play havoc with APN settings on the phone, so note those down before starting. And don’t forget to backup, will you? While there’s supposed to be an “official” version before the end of the year, one of the lessons of 2010 is that local carriers can’t be trusted to offer timely Android updates.
