Android/iOS: Blogs and news sites put all that effort into making their posts graphically appealing, so why not see what they've got? Pulse, a nicely different kind of news reader, pulls your news in through side-scrolling, thumbnailed slides.
Pulse recently went the free-with-ads route, and it's worth a look-see for anyone who likes to keep up on things. Not as stylised and overtly magazine-like as Flipboard, but neither straight-forward as Google Reader, Pulse is a tool that's best at handling maybe a dozen or so important feeds at once.
Pulse can actually pull in your Google Reader subscriptions and add them individually as feeds, but Pulse's real strength is the graphical thumbnailing it puts on every post (that has an image available, at least). It makes for a great laid-back reading experience, as I discovered when running through my feeds early this morning.
Pulse is a free download for Android and iOS devices, with a paid version offering an ad-free experience.
