Packing for a weekend trip may be a simple job, but if you're filling your SUV to the brim with luggage or large furniture, getting it in and out can be difficult. This simple DIY sliding platform will make it a bit easier.
You can buy a few products like this on the market, but they're pretty expensive and only fit certain cars. For a build cost of around $150, you can fit this cargo bed to pretty much any car you want. All you need is a large plywood sheet and some bits of hardware (like slotted angle irons and appliance rollers) to build in the sliding functionality. It probably won't be sturdy enough to roll it all the way out, but it's certainly easier than reaching all the way into your trunk, especially if your cargo bay is deep.
