We've made no secret of our love affair with the endlessly versatile binder clip. Reader DannyBR details how he uses a binder clip for a mobile phone tripod mount on-the-cheap.
I was looking for an economical solution to mounting my mobile phone on a table top tripod I have. After watching people come up with elaborate harnesses for their phones, it hit me. I use the largest binder clip I have and drilled a hole in the centre. Afterwards, I can easily clamp my phone. My phone has a rubber case around it that will protect it, but I plan on buying some foam tape to place on the edges of the clip so it won't scratch it.
Aside from the cost, it's also versatile. You can place the phone in it in either landscape or portrait and use it on a professional tripod if needed.
Seems like a natural fit, considering that binder clips make for solid mobile phone docks.
