Be Wary When Buying Christmas Lights

With Christmas just under a month away, it won't be long before everyone is stringing up Christmas lights. Make sure any new lights you buy meet relevant electrical safety standards.

As well as the obvious points (make sure your lights have proper Australian standard insulated power plugs), the guide reminds us all that lights sold anywhere in Australia should have a regulatory compliance label on the device itself or the packaging.     Rule number 1: Make sure the lights have a built in transformer and use 12 volt globes. Saw some a few years back that were 240V all they way. Baaaaaadddddd.
