Yahoo’s out with a new version of their mail client, one that the purple-clad firm claims is faster for users everywhere, better at search and spam filtering, and easily connected to send and receive updates from social networks.
The speed improvements are hard to quantify, as location, inbox size and other factors always play a role, but our own (admittedly light) Yahoo inbox seemed pretty snappy under the new beta. The default layout is more familiar from a desktop client standpoint than Gmail, which may appeal to some, and Yahoo’s taken steps to preview media like YouTube videos, Picasa and Flickr slideshows, and other items right in the messages:
