Switch Straight To Your Home Directory Without The Tilde

If you spend a lot of time in the Terminal but can't seem to get your muscle-memory to reach that tilde every time you want to change to your home directory (i.e. cd ~), reader the-soup highlights a quick, simple shortcut.

You can usually just type cd without an argument to switch right to your home directory. It's a lot faster than typing cd /home/soup or cd ~.

Maybe not life-changing, but a handy Terminal shortcut to know.

Update: Reader garrycook was also quick to point out that:

cd - will take you back to the last directory you were in. Very handy for switching back and forth between two directories once you've been to both.
