Repurpose A Shoe Organiser For Compartmentalised Cable Storage

Keep cables organised, especially those that you use just enough that putting them in deep storage at the back of the closet isn't practical, is a challenge. Repurpose an over-the-door shoe organiser for easy but out of sight cable organisation.

Technology blog Unplggd highlights how a basic canvas shoe rack makes a great cable organiser:

A simple hanging shoe organizer can hang on the back of any door, or even the wall near your computer desk. It will allow you to keep the cords and connectors you need at hand without having to dig through boxes and baggies of assorted things.

If you put the organiser on the outside of a door in your office for speedier access, a colourful cloth organiser that compliments your decor would make sense. If you're hanging it on the inside of the door, out of sight, opting to get a clear vinyl organiser would provide an instant peek into the contents of each cable storage pouch.

I use the same thing to store my old console controllers. So tidy and easy to find what you want.

This is an excellent idea! Much better than just using cable ties for the self storage of wires. I had a friend collect little pods from leftover chocolates or what not and use those as a self storage idea too, but I think the shoe rack idea takes up less space.
