If you're rocking a brand new Wii (or you updated your old Wii to the new 4.3 Wii OS) and you want to hack it for homebrew apps and game backups, check out this guide to using the Super Smash Bros exploit.
We've shown you how to hack your Wii in the past using the Twilight Princess hack and without the Twilight Princess hack using banner bomb exploits. But what if you've updated your Wii (or purchased a brand new one) and you're stuck with the Wii OS 4.3?
How to site How-To Geek has a great guide to using a new game exploit to patch your Wii. Much like the now defunct Twilight Princess hack, which used a game exploit to install custom software, the SmashStack attack uses an exploit in the popular game Super Smash Bros Brawl. You'll need a Wii (updated to Wii OS 4.3), a copy of Super Smash Bro Brawl, a Game Cube controller, an SD card for your Wii and the SmashStack exploit — which is actually a custom Smash Bro map that executes the exploit from the stage builder tool — seen above. Aside from using the SmashStack to open an exploit through Super Smash Bros Brawl, the technique is quite similar to our guide to hacking your Wii without Twilight Princess. Check out the full guide at the link below to learn more.
Once you've hacked your Wii, don't forget to check out our guide to backing up and playing your Wii games from an external hard drive. Hands down, it's the most awesome mod you'll ever make to your Wii.
