A growing body of research shows just how rough sitting all day is on our bodies. Today's featured workspace, a simple standing desk made from an old dresser with a DIY laptop riser and organiser, is a push back against seated work.
Lifehacker reader Robert Schultz was ready to join the growing legion of people ditching their traditional desks but wanted to take it for a spin before investing heavily in a stand solution. It turns out that his first attempt at cobbling together a standing desk was a perfect fit.
Trying to find a stand-up desk solution, I pulled this antique chest-of-drawers from the attic that ended up being a perfect height. The drawers provide ample storage space for computer, camera, and audio gear.
To keep everything organized, I made storage compartments for the hard drives and such with two pieces of wood, and four pieces of aluminium. It also raises the display to a perfect eye-level height for 5'6" me.
We don't know about you but the influx of economical and attractive standing desks in the Lifehacker Workspace Show and Tell Pool has us longing for a nice standing workstation to work at.
