Motorola Flipout Coming On Vodafone For $299

The local market for cheaper Android phones continues to grow. Motorola’s Flipout, an unusual design with a slideaway screen and a full keyboard underneath, is being released in October exclusively through Vodafone with a $299 outright buy price.

That’s pretty good pricing for an Android device, especially one which is actually running 2.1 for a change. The phone has swappable black, red and white covers, and incorporates Motorola’s Motoblur software. There’s no specific release date beyond “early October” (the phone itself was announced back in June), but compared to the nine-month wait for the Milestone Motorola does seem to be speeding up its local releases. That said, Motorola’s plans for providing OS upgrades do seem more than a tad disturbing.
