Fast Company got some preview time with the Internet Explorer 9 beta, due out today. The big change-up? IE9 will offer customised, standalone app-like experiences through Microsoft's partners, like Amazon, Twitter, IMDB and others, along with fuller HTML5 support.
We're going to cover IE9's announcement and bring you a full tour of the beta as soon as we can today, but Fast Company's preview provides a look at one of the key elements. The apps are not just standalone browsers a la Fluid, Prism or Chrome's web apps — they're designed to dock into your Windows taskbar and tie in closer to your desktop experience.
