Intel Solid-State Drive Toolbox Optimises Your PC For SSD Usage

Windows only: We've shown you how to take full advantage of your solid-state drive before, but with Intel's free Toolbox app, you can run and schedule automatic tasks that increase your drive's performance even more.

If you're one of the users that find SSDs a useful upgrade, there are definitely a few things you'll have to keep in mind when using it. Intel tries to make life a bit easier by compiling the most important maintenance tasks into one app so you don't have to worry about them. From the main toolbox window, you can not only view information about your drive, but you can run diagnostic scans and a number of other processes.

If you hit the "Intel SSD Management Tools" button, you have a few choices: you can optimise your SSD using the Trim command, run an all-in-one system configuration tuner, and securely erase the drive (as long as it's no longer bootable — you'll have to do a regular format before running this process). You can also schedule the Trim command to run on a regular basis, so you can set it and forget about it. All in all, it's a convenient tool to keep your SSD running at peak performance.

Intel Solid-State Drive Toolbox is a free download, Windows only.

or here, if that doesn't work
    "http://downloadcenter.intel.com/license_agr.aspx?url=/18455/eng/Intel%20SSD%20Toolbox%20v2.0.0.000.msi&agr=Y&sType=&PrdMap=&DwnldId=18455&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng"

Not much it can do with non intel drives, but it is interesting to compare the normal hard drives with the SSD :)

Newer Sandforce controllers aren't even using a TRIM function - just doing the cleaning up on the fly.
