The plastic bags from groceries, takeout and other shops often end up wadded, stuffed or tangled in an inconvenient spot, unless you buy a single-purpose storage tool. Or, if you've got the inclination, you fold them like a flag.
Not everyone is going to put this kind of effort in, but the blogger at A Lil Bird Told Me puts forth the evidence that it can be really convenient to have all your bags stashed in a container, inside a standard drawer, ready for easy unfolding whenever needed. The folding should be familiar to any former Boy/Girl Scout or military member — it's the same kind of triangular end-over-end used for flags.
If you don't keep plastic grocery bags around or just can't imagine actually folding them, consider other uses for grocery bags, such as crocheting into a full shoulder tote.
