Use An Old CD Spindle As A DIY Parts Container

If you're a frequent DIYer, your workspace probably gets cluttered quickly. Make magazine shows us how to repurpose old CD spindles to organise all your small parts and mount it near your workspace.

We've mentioned more ways to repurpose CD spindles than we can remember, but this can be a pretty handy organiser once you accumulate all of those small parts you work with (and then you could us another spindle to find them when they fall on the ground). Just screw as many as you want on the bottom of a piece of wood and mount it somewhere near your workspace — you'll have a bunch of handy wall containers with all your parts inside.

You could adapt this idea to anything, too — if you don't do a ton of DIY but you build a lot of computers, you could use these spindles to organise all your SATA cables, screws, risers, IDE ribbons and other miscellaneous parts you have left over. Check out the video to see how it's done, and share your favourite uses for those plastic spindles in the comments.
