If you're looking to outfit your outdoor spaces on the cheap it's tough to go cheaper than recycling shipping pallets into chaise lounges.
Over at the aptly-named frugal design blog Shoestring Pavilion they're striving to outfit their backyard in style as cheaply as possible. One of their clever tricks involved turning some discarded packing pallets into chaise lounges. You can follow in their footsteps as long as you've got a couple pallets to hack up, a crowbar, a saw, some screws, and a screw driver — a power drill with a drill bit for pilot holes and a Phillips bit to drive the screws would be a great toolbox upgrade for the project.
The entire project cost $US10 and that was just for paint they picked up at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore to add some colour to the lounges. If you don't have wood screws squirreled away in your workshop you'll only be out a few dollars to pick up enough for the project.
