Windows: Whatever motivates you to abandon your mouse—tiny netbook trackpad, hatred of wasted arm movements, reluctance to replace a broken mouse—MouseFIGHTER enables keyboard-based control of your mouse for mouse-free navigation.
Windows has a built-in feature called MouseKeys that offers similar functionality. The only problem is that MouseKeys relies on the numeric pad. If you're on a laptop or using a compact keyboard you don't have a numeric pad to work with and MouseKeys doesn't allow for substitution. Even if you do have a keyboard with a numeric pad, MouseFIGHTER offers significantly more customisation and control over your keyboard-as-mouse experience.
MouseFIGHTER supports customisation of hotkeys so you can layout the buttons exactly as you like—we found the old FPS shooter layout of ASDW for directional movement to be particularly intuitive—and tweak how fast the cursor accelerates, how far the cursor jumps when you activate the jump key, among other settings. When MouseFIGHTER is active the cursor changes and regular typing is disabled until you press the hotkey and return your keyboard to normal functionality.
MouseFIGHTER is freeware, Windows only.
