Symbaloo, the tile-style start page we previously detailed, has released a new version that offers searchable web tiles for easier adding of sites other people already love. You can also now share your “webmix” with friends or the wider world.
There’s quite a few new little features found around the site, detailed in the video and link here, but the main upgrades are in searching and sharing. If somebody’s already created, for example, a Lifehacker tile, you can search for it and quickly drop it somewhere onto your own Scrabble-like start page, rather than have to manually edit a tile to assign a URL and icon. You can also now share your “Webmix”, as Symbaloo calls its start page, with friends, so they can grab your tiles, or offer up your page publicly for everyone to benefit from.
Symbaloo remains a free service, and a pretty neat take on the start page.
