Chrome: Docs PDF and PowerPoint Viewer automatically opens linked PDFs, PowerPoint presentations and Word documents in Google Docs Viewer without requiring you to download the file and open it with a local desktop application on your computer.
When all you want to do is view a document, it can be annoying to download a document and load up a heavy desktop application. With this handy extension, Google-built installed, Chrome automatically opens the file through the web-based Google Docs Viewer, which quickly renders documents directly in your browser.
If you have Adobe Reader installed, you'll need to disable the Adobe plug-in to open PDFs. Type chrome://plugins/ into the address bar, and click Disable under Adobe Acrobat. If you're running Firefox, check out the similar Send to Google Docs extension to send and view your files in Google Docs. Docs PDF/PowerPoint Viewer is a free download and works wherever Chrome works.
