We’ve done a fair amount of tweaking from last year’s Lifehacker Pack for Mac, so check out our previous Mac Pack if you’re still hungry for a few other options. Let’s hear about your must-have apps (whether we listed them or not) in the comments.

Comments

      • Vuze is a better downloader with built in safepeer. Just had to move a whole bunch of torrents from uttorent to vuze because uttorrent was stuck on zero speed.

    • I was going to comment the exact same thing.

      Vuze is awesome. You can:

Stream to xbox and tivo (and PS3 I think)

Transcode to all stuff that connect to iTunes (iPod ect) and almost every other device like PSP

Has the Vuze HD network which is pretty cool

Now makes playable DVD’s (but you have to pay for this feature)

and do this all remotely if ur comps on at home. its pretty impressive. It’s also quicker to download stuff I find.

  • I still use The Unarchiver for small files, but for huge files where I want to browse the whole archive and just extract a specific file, I use Zipeg, which I discovered recently. Not quite the same as Izarc or WinRAR, but it’s getting there. Free too.
