One of Office 2010’s neatest features is nearly seamless uploading to its free Web Apps. Then again, it shows an annoying system tray icon while doing so and on start-up. Here’s how to get rid of it while keeping the uploads rolling.
Writer Mysticgeek, at the How-To Geek’s home away from Lifehacker, explains how to banish Office 2010’s Upload Center from the notification area of your taskbar. After jumping into the Upload Center’s settings and un-checking “Display icon in notification area”, you’d think you’d be done — but the Upload Center also auto-starts with your system, so you’ll need to head into your system configuration area and disable Office 2010’s process there, too.
The whole process is explained in screen-captured detail at the How-To Geek’s site. If you’ve found another annoyance in Office 2010 you’d love for us to dig up the cure for, sound off in the comments.
