If you can’t bear the thought of being disconnected from your IM friends while you’re out and about, you’ll be happy to hear that there is an irresistibly simple way to continue your conversations without interruptions.

The Nokia N900 uses MSN-style text and instant messaging to organise unfolding conversations. You can access the history of ongoing and previous messages in one convenient window, and you can even run multiple chats simultaneously. Type a message to your wife, then simply tap the screen from the dashboard to quickly jump to the conversation you’re having with your brother, or the one you’re having with your best friend.

Or if you’d rather hear their voices, the Nokia N900 integrates Skype and Google Talk for quick access to free VoIP calls. You can also add contact shortcuts straight onto your personalised desktops, so you can easily see which of your friends are available for a chat.

Instant messengers will no doubt find this an attractive proposition, so if being connected is this important to you, get a better look at Nokia’s website or your nearest retailer.
