When your mobile phone dies, the only sensible thing to do is send it off for recycling. Right now, you've got an extra incentive to do that: the MobileMuster scheme is directing funds raised from recycling phones towards regenerating key areas across Australia.

For every kilogram of phones recycled by MobileMuster between May 1 and June 5, Landcare Australia will plant a tree at one of four key locations within Australia, all centred around the Murray River. The organisation is hoping to collect 30,000 old mobiles over that period.
Sending in a phone is a pain and cost-free exercise: you can pick up a free satchel at Australia Post stores, print your own post-paid label from the site, or drop a phone off at a local collection point.
