Upgrading your office chair isn’t a cheap undertaking by any measure so if you can squeeze by with a few inexpensive upgrades to make your office chair more comfortable and pleasing to look at, it really pays off. Over at the technology site Unplggd they’ve put together a list of five ways you can upgrade your office chair cheaply. Some of their suggestions are cosmetic — like reupholstering the chair — but we like the ones that focus on comfort and functionality like:
Add New Wheels: It doesn’t matter if your office chair is old or new, most have wheels to make movement around the room easy. Changing them up can make for smoother gliding, plus add a bit of colour. If your chair doesn’t have wheels, now is a great time to add them. There’s all sorts and sizes and sure to be a perfect match no matter what your aesthetic is.
One thing worth noting: if you wheels are outright malfunctioning, call the company before replacing them. The initial set of casters on my current office chair seemed lacklustre and one even fell apart. I called the company and they sent me an upgraded replacement set and it’s been smooth rolling ever since.
