So You Need A Typeface Provides Semi-Snarky (But Useful) Font Advice

Did you cry at the sheer beauty of the type in Terminator? Do you love Garamond, but want slightly bigger "eyes"? Designer Julian Hansen offers a clever and helpful flowchart that helps both typography nerds and neophytes find their font.

It's fun to follow around the thoughts and threads of Hansen's flowchart. Start with the big button in the middle, choose your project, and fly around the chart, arriving eventually at a font that's either inspired or the perfect choice for your tired tastes, depending on your answers. Those with an eye for kerning and the like may just get a laugh or two from the picks, but for those of us who have no idea what we're seeing in lettering most of the time, there's some real value in being asked "How do the (words) Semi-Sans, Semi-Serif sound?" The English translation's a bit stilted at times, but you'll get the joke, or advice, in most cases.
