The idea behind the previously mentioned LegalTorrents was good — a centralised, free and legal BitTorrent search engine and tracker. It lacked in organisation and immediate appeal, however. ClearBits is LegalTorrents' new version, and it has got great stuff, and even no-software-needed downloading.
Right off the bat, a matrix view of some of ClearBits' more intriguing stuff greets a new visitor. Episodes of MAKE Television, for example, or a a greatest hits album by Jonathan Coulton. Dig around, sort the categories by download stats to see what's trending, and you'll likely find other great stuff. Intrigued at the idea of building your own SIM card reader? There's a show for that.
Signup at the site is free, and it offers both standard .torrent files and downloading through a Java applet by hitting the double blue arrows next to any link. If you find something neat in the stacks, do let us know about it in the comments. Thanks for the tip, Michael!
