Gmail’s canned responses are a true timesaver, but they can also fill out a task list in Remember the Milk (RTM) like nobody’s business. An RTM forum member details how he uses auto-filled emails for meal and grocery planning.
Remember the Milk gives each user an email address where they can send in emails to import tasks. You can also include code text, like tags: dinner, in the body, and define which list gets added to in the subject.
Michael writes to the Remember the Milk forums about how Gmail’s canned responses allow him to automatically add his favourite dishes to after-work shopping lists in RTM:
… To save typing this e-mail every time I want to cook this dish I’ve saved the list of ingredients as a ‘canned response’ in gmail so, if I want to load this meal into my grocery list I just goto gmail and select this ‘canned response’, sent it to RTM and within a few seconds the ingredients have loaded into my grocery list.
Canned responses also make for a smarter autoresponder, so investing a little bit of time into them can pay off in the long run.
